What do we do in Cuba? es
In Cuba, our Art of Diplomacy delegation meets with Cuban business owners, entrepreneurs, artists, and musicians in the small but tenacious private sector.
During our recent trips, we met with Cuban officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and enjoyed a lovely reception with U.S. diplomats at the U.S. Embassy in Havana. In our five days in Havana, we participated in wide-ranging discussions about U.S.-Cuban relations, the failures of the Cuban economic and political model, issues related to the long-standing U.S. embargo, impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, migration, human rights, censorship, economic shortages, and more.
We stayed in beautiful, privately-owned boutique hotels in the Vedado neighborhood, traveled around Havana in 1950s classic cars with drivers, and ate in privately-owned restaurants known as "paladares." We enjoyed a walking tour of Old Havana, learned about Afro-Cuban culture and music, experienced Cuban cigars, practiced our salsa dancing, and some of us even went to a baseball game!
This trip is great for working professionals, philanthropists, policy advocates, academics, students, and retirees alike. The Cuba experience with Art of Diplomacy Tours is perfect for policy-minded individuals who want to engage with the Cuban people and learn about Cuban culture and the arts, U.S.-Cuba relations and history, as well as healthcare, education, religion, trade, and the private sector in Cuba. The groups are small, and the carefully curated agenda can be tailored to meet the interests of our travelers. Participants also have the opportunity to bring donations of school supplies and over-the-counter medicines to support the Cuban people.
